Fan Favorite of the Day: A mere two weeks after NBC’s much maligned announcement that it was indefinitely shelving its critically acclaimed primetime sitcom Community due to poor ratings, it was revealed that the very same shelved sitcom that supposedly no one watches won TV Guide’s annual Fan Favorite Poll.
The stars of the show will be featured in three separate collectible covers — i.e. three glossy middle fingers to NBC — which are set to hit newsstands December 1st.
Some 300,000 people in all cast their vote in the poll. Community managed to top such notable favorites as Dexter, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Chuck, and The Vampire Diaries.

This is one of the funniest videos I have ever seen. If you are a Pennsylvania guy, know a Pennsylvania guy, or have dated a Pennsylvania guy (or if you just like Katy Perry’s song California Girls), you should stop what you are doing now and watch this video.

It is just way too accurate, and hilarious. I nearly started crying from laughter at the part about getting hoof and mouth disease from eating raw scrapple!

Anthony Bourdain: SAFETY FIRST

As a Army Medic? This guy gets it.

anthonybourdain:

In the end, we were all fine—as untouched and untroubled as we’d been before Iraq.

If anything changed, if there was a single takeaway from what we saw in Kurdistan and what we learned during three days of “Hazardous Environment Training” in what our British instructors called “Virginiastan”, it…

Everyday Hero of the Day: NYC construction worker Gary Russo has made a habit of serenading 2nd Avenue passers-by with Frank Sinatra standards during his 30-minute lunch breaks.

Armed with a karaoke kit he brings to work every day, Russo, a Local 40 ironworker, attempts to dispel the constant construction noise, if only for a little while.

“Forget all the noise, traffic and the impact of the 2nd Ave. Subway,” reads the sign just behind him. “Enjoy the music.”

Don’t mind if I do.

Big League Disappointment of the Day: The Rev. John Foundation Little League team from Kampala, Uganda, defeated their Arabian American Little League rivals to become the first African youth baseball team ever to advance to the Little League World Series.
Hooray, right? Wrong.
This year’s Little League World Series, as every Little League World Series, will be held in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Sadly, the Ugandan team will not be able to attend as they’ve just been denied entry into the US.
Something about discrepancies in their documentation.
A spokesman for the State Department said consular officers “examined each of these individuals and accorded them every consideration under the law.” He wouldn’t specify as to the reason for the denial, but said he didn’t believe it was out of concern that players would stay behind after the tournament.
“It is unfortunate, as we were very much looking forward to welcoming the first African team to the Little League Baseball World Series,” said Little League Baseball and Softball president Stephen D. Keener in a statement. “We are going to have to take a few days to evaluate all our options, and decide how best to move forward.”
